         The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is one of the Directorates General (DGs) of the European Commission (EC), further also referred to as ‘the contracting authority’.

         The JRC Resources Directorate (JRC-R) is located in part in Ispra, Italy. In the Ispra site there are also 2 scientific Directorates, units of 4 scientific Directorates based on other locations and units belonging to the Directorates for Strategy and Coordination, Knowledge Management, Competences. The mission of the Directorate Resources is to ensure the efficient and effective deployment of the human, financial and technical resources necessary to support the JRC"s activities, in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. To make the JRC sites a safe, secure and attractive working environment by providing efficient customer-driven services to facilitate the current and future scientific activities of the JRC while ensuring that JRC sites acts as a good neighbour to their respective community at large.

         The Joint Research Centre, Ispra site (JRC-Ispra) covers an area of approximately 166 ha with 30 km of roads. Paved surfaces (roads, yards, etc.) have an area of approximately 300 000 square meters and the buildings are about 300. The buildings develop a total area of about 195 000 square meters. The residences and external services (nursery, club house, etc.) are also included in the premises and some common parts of ALER buildings in via Esperia, Ispra. About 2 000 people, internal or external, are present on a daily basis at the JRC-Ispra. All the premises have to be cleaned regularly; waste collection must be ensured the same as rodent and pest control.
